Every year at Christmas, I make a special effort, both personally and professionally, to lend my support to a worthy charitable cause. This year, I’m proud to be supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
What do you do if your child needs hospital treatment, but your family lives far away? Many families must travel long distances to access medical treatment for their sick child. That’s where Ronald McDonald House Charities steps in, providing a place for families to stay together, steps away from a children’s hospital.
RMHC takes care of families, so families can be there for their sick child. RMHC provides families with a place to stay, where they can sleep, enjoy home cooked meals, do laundry, be supported by other families, and receive the care that can help make their journey a little easier.
Regina is among the major centres in Canada that, so far, does not have a Ronald McDonald House, despite a growing need. RMHC has a long track record of delivering services in Saskatoon. Now, the charity has launched the Miles to Go campaign to build new facilities in Regina. The Regina facility, estimated to cost $14 million, will not only serve the needs of 824 families per year, but will also bring much needed revitalization to the Regina General Hospital area.
